More and more these days we’ve been hearing about the use of herbal vaporizers as a safer and more health conscious way to ingest the psychoactive components of various herbs, whether those be tobacco, catnip, marijuana, etc. No matter what they’re for, the best vaporizers on the market these days are becoming even more popular, with everything from digital to portable vaporizers appearing for consumers to snatch up.
How do vaporizers work is the first question that many skeptical consumers have on their minds before they’re willing to shell out the money to buy vaporizers. Understandably so, as these strange and foreign looking contraptions could be just another cash grab from the unknowing public, simply looking to bank off of their ignorance, correct?
Well while there are certainly some cheap vaporizers out there that aren’t all that desirable, the best vaporizer will provide you with a much healthier and in my own opinion, enjoyable “smoking” experience.
However, there are some aspects of owning your own herbal or marijuana vaporizer that you should keep in mind when handling and taking care of it – many an unwary vape owner has found himself breaking it or simply mistreating it to the point that it no longer functions as well as it once did. The best vaporizers, or at least the ones truly worth purchasing, will cost you a bit more than a simple smoking pipe will, so taking some simple precautions and
following some basic guidelines should have you enjoying your herbal vaporizer experience for years to come…
- Using Incorrect Materials in Your Vaporizer – An herb vaporizer uses a heating element to heat your herbal materials up to temperatures exceeding 400 degrees or more in many cases, a fact that many people take for granted. Whether you’re using a whip or bag style vape, you’re going to want to make absolutely sure that you or anyone else doesn’t place anything in it that shouldn’t be heated to that temperature. Obviously it goes without saying that paper, wood, plastics, etc. should never be placed in a stationary or a portable vaporizer.
- Overheating/Leaving the Heating Element on – Another mistake a vaporizer newbie might make is to overheat the device or leaving it on for long periods, leading to a fire hazard. Obviously, common sense dictates that a vaporizer functions by using a heating element, which as explained above, can exceed temperatures in the hundreds of degrees. An herbal vaporizer also heats up very quickly, even if we’re talking about a cheap vaporizer. Since they reach maximum temperatures so quickly, you should be using the vaporizer and then soon after shutting it off. There need not be reason to be concerned about the vaporizer causing an issue while it’s functioning as normal, however if you were to wander away with it left on for hours, you are setting yourself up for an issue with a fire! Do yourself a big favor and try to remember to shut it down when you’re done.. although I am familiar with the memory problems a marijuana vaporizer might present to you!
- Keep Your Vaporizer on a Safe, Sturdy Surface – The main way the average persons herbal vape is broken is not from overheating or general misuse, but by simply knocking it over or having it fall off of a high table or something like that.
I myself own and frequently use a silver surfer vaporizer which I love, but not more than three months after owning it did I learn this lesson. I had set it on top of about a waist level side table, and an unstable one at that of course, and bam! Before I knew it, someone tripped over the cord and knocked it on the ground. Thankfully the silver surfer vaporizer itself continued to work and didn’t suffer major damage, but the decorative glass temperature was broken and I had to order another. After that incident, In always insist on a stable surface for my vape!
